March 2012 1. PROPOSAL: SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND LANDSCAPE RE-PRESENTATION. Through interaction with a professional(s), rooted in disciplines other than my own, new ways of seeing may be made possible. In my experience and practice the scientific methodology and technical language of the specialist calls attention to features and processes within a landscape which an untrained eye has not yet begun to see. Indeed, for me, the very appearance and sound of specialist terminologies open new avenues of exploration. ACTION RESEARCH: The intention is to gather and document a collection of data - namely conversations and writing (scientific journals, educational literature, web based and paper sources). While respecting the latter as samples of empirical data, I will have an eye for the lyrical possibilities contained in this documentation. SITE: Studland : Ballard Down and Old Harry Rocks: the cliff and shoreline between South beach and Old Harry Rocks. METHODOLOGY: Chronological recording and sharing of process through a diary in the form of a blog. Documention through sketchbook: drawing, painting, mark- making; voice and sound recordings, notes, photography. http://franceshatch.tumblr.com |
