The Fire Poet, Philip Wells with three poets: Ann Faggetter, Christopher Abbott and Neil Lawson-Baker - (collectively known as "The King's Singers") performed with a back drop of a giant log fire in the carved wooden grandeur of the Oak Hall.
I picked up a biro to take notes- thinking that words might need noting. But the biro began to trace the gestures and shapes made as Philip performed his words. I suppose they are parallel interpretive gestures. Here they are meandering over the tiny pages of a Fabriano notebook. The captions are not the titles- just a word I heard as it passed by.
Earlier on in the weekend I was discussing with my student group the fundamental importance of our mark-making as artists.
Mark-making is our eloquence. Making word marks. Mark my word.
